How to Use Map Viewer v2 (Project Zomboid Online Map)
Map Viewer v2: How to Use It
Same map URLs, better UI. Floors/Basements, Search, Route planning, POIs, sharing links — all in one place.
Switch tip: to force v2 on any map, just add #v2 to the end of the URL.
Example: /en/B42/#v2
If you have an older shared link like ?goto=... or ?pois=...,
it will still open in v1 for compatibility — and you can switch to v2 from there.
Map Viewer v2 UI is now translated for all site languages (English, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German).
Quick start (30 seconds)
- Open a map and add
#v2(or click “Switch to v2”). - Drag to pan. Scroll / pinch to zoom.
- Use the Floor switch to jump between B1–6 and upper floors (where available).
- Open Search to find towns, spawn points, key locations, and more.
- Open POI to add markers; share a link with your POIs embedded in the URL.
Live demo (embedded)
Use the buttons to jump the embedded map. If your browser blocks interaction inside an iframe on mobile, tap “Open full”.
v1 vs v2: what’s new (and why v2 is better)
| Topic | v1 (legacy) | v2 (new) |
|---|---|---|
| URL stability | Multiple link styles; some features depend on query params. | Same base URL; share state via #v2;… hash. |
| Floors / basements | Works, but UI is heavy when many floors exist. | Floor switch is faster + clearer; big-map mode stays compact (B1–6 style). |
| Search | Location types list (classic). | Unified search panel; quick jumps to towns/spawns/POIs. |
| POIs + sharing | Supported, but links are less structured. | Add POIs + share a single URL that re-opens exactly the same view + markers. |
| Performance knobs | Limited controls. | Quality presets + render modes help phones and low-RAM devices. |
How to use the main v2 features
Use the floor switch (left edge) to move between floors. For “big map” browsing, the list stays compact (B1–6 style) instead of showing every possible z-level.
Open the Search tab to jump to towns, spawn points, and key locations. It’s the fastest way to answer “Where is a gas station / police station / well?”
Open Route, set start/end points, and you’ll get a path estimate. It’s great for planning supply runs (and deciding when a “shortcut” is actually a death sentence).
Add POIs (loot stashes, safehouses, traps). Then copy the URL — v2 stores your markers inside the #v2;… hash so friends open the exact same view.
A v2 jump link looks like:
/en/B42/#v2;x=10791;y=9953;z=0
(Muldraugh center). You can copy it into Discord, notes, or server rules.
Troubleshooting & performance
- On mobile: use Fast quality preset, collapse the dock, and zoom a bit less before enabling extra overlays.
- Seeing too much clutter: toggle Hide walls or adjust Show lower layers opacity.
- Need v1 features: click “Switch to v1” inside v2 (or open the map without
#v2).
