About pzfans.com — Project Zomboid Fans
Unofficial Project Zomboid fan site · Build 42.19 · Updated 17 July 2026
We are players who care about the depth of Project Zomboid—systems, maps, survival planning, and practical reference data—and we publish guides, tools, and map resources so others can enjoy the same game more easily. Content covers both Build 41 and Build 42 where the difference matters; each page names the game version used for its numbers and UI labels when available.
What you will find here
- Guides and reference articles — mechanics, locations, multiplayer ops, and Build 41 vs Build 42 notes.
- Interactive tools — craft tables, planners, checklists, and similar helpers under Guide And Tools.
- Online maps — interactive map viewers on the home map entry, with community map requests at mapreq.pzfans.com.
- Server list — serverlist.pzfans.com for discovering multiplayer servers.
Game version and sources
Unless a page says otherwise, numbers and labels on this site target Project Zomboid Build 42.19 (Steam Unstable, mid-2026). Older articles may still describe Build 41 or earlier Unstable snapshots; the version shown on each page takes precedence over this About summary.
| Priority | Source | How we treat it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Installed game files | Preferred for items, sandbox options, XP rules, and UI strings |
| 2 | Official The Indie Stone posts / in-game tooltips | Preferred for product policy, branch status, and labeled options |
| 3 | Steam Workshop pages (tags, descriptions, update time) | Used for mod pages; author tags are not a guarantee of correctness |
| 4 | Community reports and historical notes | Labeled as experience, rumor, or historical when not confirmed in-game |
Mods, sandbox overrides, and Unstable patches can change behavior overnight. Prefer the Build and date named on the page over older screenshots or third-party wikis.
Editorial responsibility
Site content is maintained by the pzfans editors for educational and fan use. We aim for accurate in-game reference where the game allows it—not perfect real-time coverage of every Unstable patch. Subjective tips (base picks, playstyle) stay clearly separate from mechanics numbers when we can.
- Guides may lag a patch; always re-check critical multiplayer or economy values in your installed client.
- Interactive tools can ship their own data snapshots; if the tool UI shows a generation date or build, that date wins for that tool.
- Advertising and analytics (when present) are described on the Privacy Policy page and do not change editorial priority for game facts.
Corrections and contact
Found a wrong number, dead link, or outdated Build assumption? Email [email protected] (same channel as the Contact page). Useful reports include:
- Full page URL
- Game Build / branch (for example Build 42.19 Unstable)
- What the page says vs what you observed
- Evidence: screenshot, log snippet, in-game path, or Workshop ID—not only a claim
Map feature requests and map-related feedback can also go through mapreq feedback.
Maps and open-source credit
Our website’s map tiles and Deep Zoom–style map data pipeline are generated based on the open-source project pzmap2dzi (MIT License). That project converts Project Zomboid map data into a format suitable for deep-zoom web viewing. We thank the authors for their work.
- What we credit: map data conversion / tile generation lineage inspired by and based on pzmap2dzi.
- What is site-specific: the interactive map UI (viewer controls, layers, routing, POI tools, hosting, and catalog) is part of pzfans’s online map system, not a drop-in clone of the upstream repository.
- License boundary: third-party code remains under its own license (for pzmap2dzi, see the MIT license in the upstream repository). Site text and original UI code are covered by pzfans site copyright unless a page says otherwise. Game assets remain property of The Indie Stone / their licensors.
