3 Project Zomboid Suppressor Mods: Build 41 vs Build 42
Compatibility status updated for Project Zomboid Build 42.19 on July 15, 2026.
Build 42 warns that Build 41 and older mods must be updated before they can run normally. You can expose unsupported mods through Debug mode, but that does not make them compatible or safe for an existing save. Back up your save and verify the exact Workshop version before testing any of these entries.
Quick compatibility comparison
| Workshop item | Workshop status | Build 42.19 recommendation | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silencer Fixed and Improved for 41MP | Build 41; last Workshop update January 7, 2022 | Legacy only; no verified Build 42 support | The Workshop page does not publish a complete recipe or current gun-mount list. |
| Silencer Unofficial Fixed Version | Build 41; last Workshop update December 22, 2021 | Legacy only; multiplayer was listed as untested | Conflicts with suppressor or weapon-part mods that alter sound, radius, or volume on vanilla guns. |
| Brita’s Weapon Pack | Build 41; last Workshop update March 13, 2023 | Do not rely on it for Build 42.19 | Its current Workshop notice says Build 42 disabled or broke every feature and describes the pack as currently unusable. |
What each mod actually provides
Silencer Fixed and Improved for 41MP
Workshop ID 2703045091This Build 41 mod rewrote the older silencer code so sound modifiers applied correctly. It adds a homemade suppressor model and changes crafting progression from Aiming to Metalworking.
The Workshop page says a metal pipe can make a proper silencer, but it does not list a full recipe or attachment table. Confirm materials and which guns accept the part after install before you stockpile pipes.
Silencer Unofficial Fixed Version
Workshop ID 2688122828This Build 41 branch adds two suppressors:
- Silencer: found in police stations, pawnshops, and some crates; the author lists a 95% sound-radius reduction.
- Home Made Silencer: crafted by the player; the author lists a 70% sound-radius reduction.
Both were designed for vanilla guns other than shotguns and require a screwdriver to install. Do not combine this mod with another vanilla-gun suppressor or sound-changing attachment mod.
Brita’s Weapon Pack
Workshop ID 2200148440This is the Weapon Pack, not Brita’s Armor Pack. Suppressor behavior, durability, penalties, and available models depend on the Brita and Arsenal configuration in use.
The Workshop page currently warns that Build 42 broke the pack’s workarounds and affected every feature. Use the pack only with a supported game branch and the dependency instructions shown on its Workshop page.
Which option should you choose?
- Playing vanilla Build 42.19: none of these. The current base game has scopes, recoil pads, lasers, lights, ammo straps, red dots, and shotgun chokes, but no suppressor part.
- Playing a locked Build 41 save: choose one suppressor system and follow its Workshop compatibility list. Do not stack overlapping sound or attachment mods.
- Playing multiplayer: every player and the server must use the same mod list and load order. The unofficial fixed version specifically says multiplayer still needs testing.
- Testing an unsupported mod on Build 42: use a copied save, not your main world. Seeing the mod in Debug mode does not prove that firearm sound, distribution, or attachments work correctly.
How suppressors are attached
The unofficial fixed version requires a screwdriver to install its suppressors. The Fixed and Improved for 41MP listing does not clearly state the same tool requirement—confirm the install action in-game for that mod. For current vanilla attachment steps, see how to equip weapon parts in Project Zomboid.
